Me & My Grownups Workshops

At "Me and My Grownups Workshops", children of color, in  kindergarten to second grade, from different schools  have the opportunity to meet other children like themselves, while they are guided through age-appropriate educational activities, social awareness discussions and games under the supervision of ISDN qualified instructors. All "play" activities are designed to have hidden educational benefits.

Concurrently, adults gather in a separate room to discuss the unique experiences and challenges that parenting creates. Parents share parenting experiences, successful school strategies and lend support to one another.

Have you ever:
  • Considered if your children could benefit from having more students of color in their class?
  • Felt slightly awkward at dismissal time?
  • Wondered how your child could develop friendships with other children of color attending NYC independent schools?
  •  Had issues with play dates?
These are just a small sample of some past parent discussions.
