What Is Diversity
Anti- Racist Initiatives

ISDN's Mission
ISDN's mission is to strengthen diversity, inclusion and equity in educational communities by supporting, facilitating and broadening ongoing communication and collaboration between parents, educators and schools. We seek to:
·     Establish a strong inter-school organizing community

·     Empower families by providing ongoing support

·     Raise the level of awareness and understanding of differences

·     Increase the number of schools committed to diversity, multicultural programming, equity initiatives and anti-bias curriculums,

ISDN's Vision
Our Vision is that a wide range of independent schools be a part of ISDN's network creating communities
  • That are welcoming to all of its families
  • In which recruitment and retention of students and employees of diverse backgrounds are no longer an issue
  • Where its leaders are willing to learn about and reach out to other educational communities around them for support and assistance.
  • In which each student receives an equitable education
  • That truly understand the meaning and importance of a multicultural/anti-bias education
  • In which difference is embraced and not just tolerated
  • In which all students will feel confident about who they are as well as be able to see through the lens of their fellow students
  • In which we can explore our commonalities and discover the intersections of our diversity
  • That will graduate students who have learned valuable lessons about communicating and collaborating with people different from themselves (Cultural Competency)
