DIALOGUES & CONVERSATIONS

On April 10, 2012 we initiated ISDN’s Dialogues & Conversations Series. The first workshop being:
Collaboration:  One Step toward Achieving Your Diversity/Equity Goals and Community Wellness- for parents, educators, and diversity leaders.
Parent, faculty, and administration representatives from independent schools met at Columbia Grammar and Prep School and addressed issues and priorities at their schools. The goal was to come up with action steps to work on once returning to their schools. Participants worked in different groupings; with their own school, with groups from other schools made up of their affiliation (school personnel or parents) and in the larger group of everyone.

Some one-word feelings/descriptions at the end of the evening: “exhilarating”, “community”, “supported”, “excited”, “energized”, “renewed”, “included”, ”inspired”…

Dialogues & Conversations Part II:
Moving Forward

Continuing with our theme of educators and parents in collaboration, we again worked in large and small groups by theme as opposed to affiliation. We elaborated on some themes that we started to talk about in April. . We:- Examined goals
- Identified challenges
- Brainstormed with colleagues from other schools
- Shared best practices
- Gained insight and support
- Expanded our resource base
